LEDs are a small style for the dash, I don't remember the number, sorry, eBay. Shifter and Xfer case use 194. The center console ones are a smaller style.
Cruise works, you just have to swap the two wires to the Cherokee hub connector. Airbag connection is the same so long as it's the earlier single stage.

Sorry to revive a super old thread but I went to do this this weekend. Is there anything I need to know? Does it bolt on the the factory clock spring? What wires to there for the CC? Thanks!

Post #4: connect the colored wire with the colored wire and black with black. Only thing that had to be modified/soldered. You use the plug end from the XJ.
You use the factory XJ clock spring. My column had the centering notch slightly off, so I had to readjust my steering (the sleeve on the front tie rod).
The usual pull the negative battery cable off (the night before if possible) and make sure to use a single stage (only has one 2 prong plug in the back) warnings.

Sorry to revive an old thread but i’m having some trouble wiring up my cruise. Currently the horn or cruise does not work, but the air bag light does not come on so I believe the clockspring is ok. Not sure if I swapped the XJ cruise connector onto the correct wires. Does this look right from what anyone can tell? I’ve already tried both combinations of wiring where the green one was soldered on and it didn’t change anything. (Greens we’re connected when testing, unplugged after they didn’t work).

Forgot to mention my current setup has that black harness not being used shown in the pictures and the original XJ horn wire not being used. Thought maybe to ground the original horn wire but I don’t want to start tearing things up beyond repair.

Cruise Control on the XJ wires are Red with Light Green and Brown with Yellow. On the GC harness for the steering wheel controls that I had, I think one was red with light green. I connected that to the red with light green wire on the XJ harness. The horn harness wasn't affected. you use the clockspring from the XJ and simply splice the two wires from the cruise control.

Newbie here, sorry if I'm reviving an old thread. I don't understand the forum etiquette quite yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I'm incredibly confused with this swap. Quick rundown:
I have a 98 XJ non-cruise. Sourced an eBay XJ clockspring (it was just listed as 97-01) and XJ connector cruise button wiring (from 2 different Jeeps). WJ wheel came out of an 01 I believe. The airbag connection is the earlier style and plugs right in. I have no airbag light, which is good.
I soldered the XJ connector in the place of the WJ one. The WJ connector uses 3 wires, where the XJ uses only 2. XJ connector that I soldered on is red with green and brown with yellow. WJ is red with green and black with blue (I connected the brown and yellow XJ wire with the black and blue WJ wire, as those were the two left over). as you'll see in picture, there is a 3rd wire from where the WJ connector was removed and XJ connector was soldered on. It is grey with orange, and is what powers the WJ horn connection if I'm not mistaken. As you can see in the pictures I'll post below, the original XJ horn wire is not the same color, nor is it the same type of connection. The WJ horn is a plastic connector and grey with orange wire, and the XJ clockspring horn connection is a slip-fit prong connector with black and white wire. SO, currently I have no horn, and none of the buttons are working. I'm not sure if this is because I soldered the wrong wires together, OR if it's because my 98 XJ can't read the resistance of the newer WJ buttons. I'm at a complete loss. My inspection is dead and it won't pass until I at least get the horn figured out. Hopefully that makes sense and the pictures explain it. Thanks in advance to those who reply.
