You need to get under there and measure your exisitng muffler from tip to tip. Mine was 25". If the cat or muffler have been replaced, what you have may not be OE length.
I was going to just change my muffler as it had something rattling loose inside, but found that the tailpipe had seen better days. I ended up with a shorter muffler than OE, OE type tailpipe, and a piece of 2-1/4" pipe to make up the difference.
The OE muffler is center inlet and offset outlet, so a straight glasspack won't go in without some modification to make up for the offset outlet. This is assuming you'll use an OE type tailpipe out the back.
I'm running a Magnaflow, and it is straight through with a louvered core. It isn't loud, but that is probably due to the fact that it has 5' of tailpipe hanging on the end of it(2-1/4").
I think just a piece of 2-1/4" pipe in place of the muffler would be reasonable as long as it had that long tailpipe on it.

Installing one of these is just undoing the clamps and taking the muffler off. Replacing it with the glasspack and retightening the clamps right. If it's factory ?

In theory it could be that simple. The fact that the OEM muffler is center inlet and offset outlet makes it less simple to install a straight muffler. More than likely the existing clamps will be rusty and uncooperative. I had to cut my clamps off. They're only a few $ each.

It's okay to talk about your Jeep not having a cat, as long as you're not saying or giving details about how YOU removed it. Also, don't describe to someone how to remove it and not have the intention of installing a new one.
With that cleared up...
My jeep came without the cat and muffler. It's a custom jobby with two glasspacks inline, one short one where the cat should have been and one long one where the muffler was. I can take a couple of pictures and measurements and you can compare them to yours. It sounds like a throaty growl at lower engine speeds and when wound up, it sounds kind of like one of those catback exhausts because of the stock tailpipe.

And the other I ripped my exhuast off when I hit a stump. (Luckly I have the ends slid together and rtv sealed so nothing broke) but it was LOUD as ****!! We drove it back to camp to put it back on, not it 2 mins, and my buddy sitting in the pas seat put his window up because it was so loud and hurting his ears or some crap like that. Hahah it was awesome though, actually thought about running it like that but then my wallet and ears told me not to be dumb.

Can someone link the forum rules? I haven't got in trouble for saying my Jeep doesn't have a cat because someone else removed it. I've posted about it before. I didn't do anything wrong, it just came that way.

Straight from the "rules" page:
Illegal Activity 5. Do not talk about illegal activity on this forum. This includes illegal drugs, parties, wheeling, internet use, etc. Violators of this rule will be dealt with on a case by case basis. This rule includes the discussion of removing catalytic convertors, this is illegal and not allowed to be discussed on this site.

The rule clearly states that you cannot talk about removing catalytic converters. We're talking about how our Jeeps do not have cats, not how we removed them.
