Gears have me frustrated

If the pinion is toward the top of the diff it is high pinion, if it is toward the bottom, it is low pinion. This question worries me, gears are not something the average Joe should be doing, it isn't as easy as bolting the new gears in, there are a lot of tiny adjustments you have to make, if they are even a little bit off, it can be catastrophic.

Hang on, if you have a 96, you should have a high pinion, I believe the low pinion was only used in 2000+. Check the axle again, or even better, take a picture
