When I installed mine, there is a gap between the shackle box and the unibody rail where the shackle was originally bolted on. Is this right or should it be against the old shackle welded nut area? Also, the small bolt wouldn't thread into the old shackle nut mount, so I ran an original shackle bolt all the way through the box and into the old shackle nut mount. Did I do this wrong? I need some help!

I to have a gap, when i removed them and re installed i added a few washers.
Lightly hand thread the little shackle bolt, then insert the nut strip bolts.
That's the only way i could get it all to fit.
If the shackle box was against the welded nut it would be really hard to get a wrench in, i haven't had any problems, I've been running them since they came out.
And I've put allot of miles on, with way to much weight in the back. (multiple thousand mile trips with axles, and my life inside the Jeep)

Thanks for taking Time to answer the questions barrel. The small gap was a tolerance issue in the original design. It should be almost non existent now. The hard part is that no 2 XJs are the same. Some brackets were tacked on at the factory with a variance of 1/16" easy. As long as the bolts are tight you are good.
There is no issue with running the stock shackle bolt through how you did. You must of accidentally got shipped the fine thread metric bolts instead of the corse. We have both in stock.

I am still working on the lift, (stupid stuck leaf bolts...), so I am going to add some washers to shore it up. Glad it's cool to run the original bolt. All is well now, thanks for the response guys!

I love your write up!! But I'm curious if you might just tack weld the nut to the back prior to installing the relocation bracket in place? Or better yet purchase extra nuts and tack them to each opening on the back side of the brackets before you install it, encase you want to move the shackles around for whatever reason...
Other than that I love the way it looks!!

When i installed, a welder was no where to be found.
I thought of a nut strip style that would compliment this very well, but a little time and i was able to get it done relatively easy.
Mine are still going strong, might get a new body, going to have to switch these over or buy another set.

Seems a bit weird to cut the stock box off like everyone is doing. Why aren't y'all drilling the factory welds - there is what, like 6? You could get one of these spot weld drills for cheap at Harbor Freight and they hold up surprisingly well. Worked great for removing my front lower control arm brackets.

Looks like a solid kit - I like the design. Might have to get a set.

I ordered mine after seeing this write-up (about 3-4 days ago). About how long did they take to come in? Kris Frolich said he is about 1-1.5 weeks behind. This that is an accurate estimate? I can't wait to install them. They come bare metal correct? If so, any rattle can suggestions? Can I use spray on undercoat on them (specifically on the inside area, or will it be too thick)?
I looked at the shackle box location and I didn't see the spot weld poking out too obviously. That is a great tool to have but maybe not for me in this application. I like the thinking though...

Kris would know because he runs the company, my guess is since he has to get these laser cut the company cutting won't have them next day, it is also a gamble with a small company to invest in a stock of 100+ to have on the shelf.
Not always is it guaranteed that they will sell, and that would be a big loss for a smaller company. This product was worth the wait for me, i had talked to him when he first had the idea, i told him is be buying because i wanted them. (had to fix my RC springs without going up)

Yes

I just used black primer, then black.

Undercoating would be to thick, the shackle will scrap it off.
Sorry for the book...

That is a good point Barrelmaker. I'm not sure how big the vendor here are or are not, but you are right-it's worth the wait. It was a very reasonable price too! I just heard some murmuring one the forum they they had very bad communication so I got worried since I already placed my order. I don't think anyone else is doing a no-lift box like he is. Genius!
***EDIT-I ended up waiting 35 days (still waiting) and after multiple attempts to contact FST, none have been returned. I had to file a Paypal dispute agains FST. So was it worth the money? Not to me. I never got them or heard back from Kris....

There are others now, but he was the first.
The problem they had was the previous shop they dealt with laser went down, so they got that straightened out.
