Default Page 2 Yoke interference with SYE

Okay so I installed my rugged Ridge SYE and teh JY front shaft is too short

OPTIONS?

the front shaft is 30.66 long compressed and almost 34" extended I have 33" yoke to yoke right now so a GC fs wont work either

I need a shaft that is like 32ish compressed

really dont want to buy a tom woods for the cash

Too tired to look it up right now but I understand a WJ or ZJ front shaft might be longer.

Zj is like 33" compress from my findings, and that is like 1" too long

not sure on WJ, but I bet its a CV anyway

29-33.5", I used the longest one for my AA SYE.

But I've also got a shorter than aw4 ax-15

just buy a shaft. I ran a shaft from a ZJ that only had about 1/2 inch of slip left in it on the road and did fine. I wouldn't have wanted to go offroad with it like that though. I got a driveshaft from Tattons Driveline, It ended up being cheaper than a woody in my case, plus the woody shafts apparently don't use spicer Ujoints anymore unless you pay extra.

the GC shaft that I still have is 32.5" compressed... I had another that was 31.5 compressed. Just go to the yard and find one that works. They only take a minute to pull.

no!

take your driveshaft to a local driveline shop and get your factory driveline retubed. load it up with new joints and have it lengthend etc. for $100-$200. this is by far the best route. a custom setup is the only thing that calls for a custom shaft, which none of us have.

dont let tom woods rape you

anyway OP, what was your issue with the junk yard shaft? just plug it in and see what happens. mine always runs at the end of the slip yoke too

I'll let you know if I ever have a problem

Hence why I suggested AVOIDING tom woods.

local shop quoted me 320 to change the CV unit, retube, and new Ujoints. I called Tattons and he shipped me one for my needs for 260... I dunno if you have ever seen a built driveshaft, but you would understand where that extra 60$ comes from. I could drop my shaft off a 10 story building and it would be OK. Not to mention they have a FULL CONTACT 7" slip yoke, whereas the factory slip yoke is barely 4" and is only about 2" of contact on the best shaft they sent out.

also, where do you get off saying that none of us have a custom setup? As soon as you modify anything past the factory it's a custom setup. sure I didn't fabricate the parts myself, but that doesn't mean it isn't custom. **** I've got probably 10 different brands of parts onto my rear end alone!

you're getting taken for a ride then. a driveline shop is cheap and simple. and it works. the comment about tom woods was just fun to say. you will never need more than 4" of slip. and custom as in different yokes, not stock axles, not stock tcase if you can bolt it on you cannot call it custom. I wouldn't even call my 8.8 custom because I can still use the stock driveline

260 isnt bad. but for what youre getting it's really not worth it when compared to a $30 junk yard shaft. spend your money how you will
