my local shop wants $225 just to retube the one I have

I am considering just going back to the JY and looking around to see if I can get lucky
Like I said I need one at 32-32.5 compressed

also I found a ZJ part # 52087805 at the pull a pick and it was only 30 3/4" long and it was suppossed to be like 31 7/8

with stock front shaft at 30.66" compressed so I need a good 2" longer shaft

And in the time you have spent looking, and all the hassle you have gone through, and not to mention work you've done looking for a shaft, you could have one being built for you as I type this.

So you'll go spend another 35 dollars and an hour of your time and some gas money and risk your life crawling under some more ZJs for a drive shaft that might work and won't be as strong... I dunno about you, but I value my time (and life) a little more than that. Do what you will, but for me it was a lot cheaper to just buy one even if the number following the dollar sign was higher.

Aimed at the comment "you only need 4" of slip" sure that may he true, but a little bit of slack is better to have. Also, if you have a slip spline 4" long, and you are 3.9" out of it, you have .1" of splines to deliver all the torque to the wheels... not an ideal situation.

Again with the "not custom" comment, I told you before, just because I didn't make the parts to bolt on doesn't make it not custom. If I were relocating my shackles and I was a fabricator I would have "custom fabricated" the same thing that I bought then proceded to bolt it on. If you don't think your 8.8 is custom you are just a ****ing moron.

come on dude get off the soap box you're still thinking inside the box in the realm of stock modifications to xj. if you want to go spend +230 for peace of mind by all means. I run the **** out of my stock drivelines and I trust them all day. I'll be damned if I spend that kind of money before I spend 20 minutes on the trail replacing a driveline that is held on by 8 bolts (which has yet to happen yet)

look. when it comes down to it you are trying to talk someone into spending big money on a modification that is completely unnecessary. I say you're wrong, there are many cases in which to order a custom driveline. this is not one of them. the OP will do as he sees fit and that's that

I will say i run Tom Woods drive shafts. They're quality & customer service is fantastic. To me I value their products and consider them to be very reliable. In my case where I live they're aren't any decent driveline shops. So for me Tom Woods is the way to go. Grabbing a yard shaft is fine, but its useless if you cant find anyplace to have it properly serviced.

I have no personal experience with their product, I've just heard bad things as of late (through the grape vine). I just was saying when I called Tom Woods, and I called Tatton's, I got a better deal from Tatton's... I will also say that my Tatton shaft next to my buddies Woody shaft, mine looks beefier but who knows.

I'd rather have piece of mind than a piece of ****.

By the way, your 8.8 axle, not stock.

OPTIONS?

the front shaft is 30.66 long compressed and almost 34" extended I have 33" yoke to yoke right now so a GC fs wont work either

I need a shaft that is like 32ish compressed

really dont want to buy a tom woods for the cash
How did you determine that the one you have won't work?

30.66" < 33" < 34"

Buy the longer and get it shortened. Its cheaper that way since.they wont.have to retube.the whole thing. Also if the cv.is good dont rebuild it they charge alot for that

^^^^This is the right JY way to do it.^^^^

I was told a '91- '94 Explorer front DS will work & is bigger & longer than a XJ's.

7" Full spline Slip joint Ohhhh yeah
Set my Pinion angle today and I still have vibes at speed started looking and it appears the SYE Out put yoke was machined off center making the shaft have "runout" form the crooked out put
