Front end clunk on take off
I have some sort of clunking in what seems my front passenger axle side. You can feel it tapping the body it seems, and I have acquired a slight shake at around 40 mph. The clunk is very loud and only when starting to accelerate. It started after I pulled the motor to replace it. Everything is connected, but my upper control arm has some play at the hiem joint at the body. My u joints are new in my drive lines, my motor and transmission mounts are all new. Any ideas? I’m thinking either a wheel bearing or my axle u joints are going bad. It sounds like a u joint on the driveline but it feels up front. I have no front drive shaft in at the moment. 96 Xj with a Dana 30 HP. The tie rods are slightly worn which could be the start of my shake but the clunk wouldn’t be the tie rods. Nothing has play in it besides the control arm. Ive tried making the bolts tighter but no effect

Came across this side while researching my own driveline problems. Maybe it will help you too.

my guess would be to get that heim joint replaced. it's loose and needs done anyhow, so you might as well start there.
my experience with the same symptoms would be control arm bushings, followed by sway bar bushings, then shock mounts/bar pins (may have a broken bar pin). and then possibly track bar frame mount/bushing.

I have a 1990 Cherokee with a 4.5 rough country long arm lift kit and Everytime I hit a bump I hear a click I directly underneath driver seat, NEED HELP!!
everything is tight and greased. Both of my lower control arms looks like it has no bushing but passenger is tight and driver side moves back and forth. Jeep also loves to wander and won’t go over 50. PLEASE HELP
