Default Front eaton e locker and rear detroit truetrac

Hi everyone,
What about this combo:
- Cherokee xj 4l auto 1997 DD
- 4,56 gearing
- Dana30 HP front with eaton elocker
- Dana35 rear eaton Detroit truetrac
- 32 inch Cooper discoverer stt pro tires

Budget friendly and effective.

What do you think about it ?

Ditch the 35 for an 8.25 or a D44.

Oh, Didn't realize you were across the pond. In that case your list looks good to me. You can always build a super 35.

Stay away from the RC lifts. Their leaf springs suck. Look into zone Off-road.

Thanks for your answers. Lift kit is already installed. I knew RC leafsprings sucks. Once worn gonna change for Zone off road products. My Jeep is a daily driver and week-end Warrior. Super 35 is still an affordable option

I would go detroit locker over truetrac. good idea on the elocker front. That is what I am getting ready to have installed with 4.88's as soon as my darn shop can work me in.

you can probably find a ford 8.8 pretty easy over there. I would choose that over the 35. but if you are stuck with the 35, i think sticking with the trutrac is fine, just try to avoid hard wheel spin from soft to hard ground.

My advice would be to look for a 97-01 Chy 8.25 29 spline those yrs. from an XJ and build it cheap and as strong as a D44. With those gears and tires the D35 may not last long off road.

I also agree with HYRYSC to go with a Detroit Locker if you can find another differential or just keep the D35 open till it destroys itself, JMHO. Not a fan of LSD's for any off road use.

Agreed on the 8.25. Those should be plentiful.

4.56 gears and 32s might be a little steep for highway driving.

The Detroit locker vs trutrac is a tough call. I sat on the decision for a long time. You gotta decide if you want better on road of better off road. For me I decided if I'm spending the money I want better off road.

If you're dumping this money, think long term. Will you ever want bigger tires? (Probably) will the jeep become more of a wheelin rig than it is now?
