or you can try those easy-out sockets, if you have the room in there...

Sorry pal. Looks like your gonna have to cut the bolts off if they are striped. The only real good way is to get a small 5/16 wrench on it and sometimes you can only get a socket but it has to be a special socket wrench.

Now would be a good time to do an sye

T-case is bolted solid to the back of the tranny.........If you jack the t-case up, you are jacking the tranny as well. Much easier to get a jack under the t-case, and not worry about damaging the tranny pan.
You are making this way harder on yourself than it needs to be.
Remove the crossmember. You will thank yourself afterwards.

You can use a Dremel with a small abrasive cutting wheel to cut off the head of the bolts; then slip the driveshaft off the yoke. You can either double nut the remaining threaded part of the bolts or just turn them out with a pair of vice grips.
