I want to trim the fenders up bc my 33s eat my flares when I flex it. I've seen someone trim em and put like garden edging on it or something to not have just bare metal there. There are a couple different methods I have thought of, either cut slits and fold or just shave off completely. Any ideas on what would be best? I don't want it to look crappy for it is my DD weekend warrior.
I did the cut and fold for my rear, and I just cut the front and left it.
Folks do use lawn edging, but some say it looks really 'ghetto' or half-assed.
Some also trim then reuse their original flares.

Aftermarket fenders look good I think but they are expensive.
I've seen people trim the originals and put them back on and I've seen people use like door edging stuff to cover the cut.
I haven't cut mine yet but I think I'm gonna do where you slit it a bunch of times and roll it back and then just leave it till I can afford to buy something.

Yeah I also though about using the original flares after trimming but how would that work. I would have to relocate the brackets, but then would it look awkward?

on the 97+ I don't see a way to reuse the factory flairs. the older style can be modified. my wifes 95 has been trimmed reusing the factory flairs. my 99 is just trimmed no flairs needed.

Here's how I did it on the front. I don't care for the no flare look and I had a rig with bushwackers once and didn't care for those either.

But its a great option. My friend has them on his 97.
You have to cut a little off the bottoms where they would normally curve in. Reattach the brackets to the flares (I used RTV) and then drill new holes and bolt them in (higher than stock). To move the rears up, you have to cut the flare so that part is on the door the rest is on the body and use the same method for attaching. The portion on the door only has one bolt so you need to double stick tape it or glue it as well.
