Default How I'm running stock flares after cutting fenders...(pics)

I cut out my fenders and wasn't a big fan of having mud and gravel thrown all over my hood and windshield constantly. I also didn't want to drop $450 on bushwackers. So I made my stock flares work.

It was fairly simple, I just used 3 pieces of angle iron and some bolts. I had to cut the front part of the flare to match how I cut my fender, but it doesn't look too bad. The flares are higher up than stock but fit pretty decent overall.

How it turned out:

Looks good. Nice work. Are you going to do anything where the body lines don't line up?

I hate mud on my XJ too. I just get plain furious every time I get done wheeling and hop out to find some mud on it.

Not for now. I havn't come up with a way to do that yet.

Actually, I'm not doing the rear. I didn't have to cut the fenders. When I switched to rustys 6.5 springs it pushed my axle back a couple inches so I have plenty of clearance to the front of the tire, and I'll just do a little trimming on the front of my back bumper. Then I'll set my bumpstops so the tire won't hit the top of the fender.

I don't mind getting it muddy when I'm wheeling, but I drive on gravel roads all the time and without flares I get piles of small rocks on my hood and sand and mud on the windshield if its wet. But I guess if I ran stock size tires with stock offset wheels it wouldn't be a problem.

Ah, I gotcha. And I was just playing, hope that was evident. The flares look pretty darn good. I just took mine off, like how it looks and how it throws mud in 12 feet rooster tails off road haha.
