Default Exhaust options

My stroker 4.6 with stock exhaust needs an upgrade. Probably just a good muffler because of the cats, but I'd love to hear any suggestions. I don't want to sound like some high school kid driving down the road. Just looking for a nice low rumble...

Performance Curve has some nice catback options that are very affordable. All of them will come with a 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust and muffler of your choice. I saved a few bucks by finding their listings on eBay and went with the magnaflow setup for like 125 bucks.

Thanks, I'll check it out. Is yours on a stock rig or a stroker? How does it sound?

I just Installed the #7 kit. Very low rubble. Easy install if you plan on using clamps. Only issue was I have a gas tank skid and shackle relocation kit so I had to cut the end of the exhaust short.

I have a Flow Master Muffler -a quality product- they are available in different series depending on how much "Rumble" you want.

Good to know. I always imagined Flowmasters would sound tinny on a 6 cylinder.

I went 2.5" from the header back, replaced the crushed down pipe, Magnaflow cat and a Flowmaster 50. Paired with a cowl intake and a 62 mm throttle body. IMO its one of the better sounding 4.0's I've heard. I think going to 2.5" pipe makes the difference with the exhaust note. I do think I lost some low end torque from the reduced exhaust velocity but you likely wouldn't have that issue with a stroker.

When I first installed the muffler I thought it was too quiet. Now I think its too loud. Its not high school kid loud, but it is much louder than I'd like when revving the engine out.

I have a very similar system + a banks header. It sounds like a mean 6 too! My entire system was custom made in a muffler shop: 2" to the front cat- 2-1/4" out, 2-1/4" in and 2-1/2" out of the second cat and back to the flow-master with 3" out to a flared tail pipe. In California, The available after-market Megaflow Cats dictate the pipe sizes. However, the passenger side floorboard got quite hot above the Magnaflow rear cat. I added a UTV exhaust shield I got from Summit Racing to help alleviate the problem :

Was the downpipe made at a muffler shop? I still havent found a mandrel bent downpipe manufactured.

Yes, it was custom made at an exhaust shop. I think Walker makes a replacement but IIRC its not mandrel bent.
