Exhaust down pipe pinch REMOVED ! Pics. Important!

No lie..... very stupid question. Let's take the 2 most logical answers to your question. Exhaust leaks sound like ****! Not to mention if a hole is drilled it will whistle...... and #2 because c02 can kill you after leaking into the cab of your jeep.
I can also add that a direct blast of exhaust can also start a fire. Plenty of **** to catch on fire under the hood.

Because then you have an exhaust leak pre o2 sensor and your **** will run rich and you'll get terrible mileage.

It was disguised to look like that.
And, if you have no lift, little lift, or lots of flex, you very likely will hit it with your drive shaft when off road.
I have my muffler shop guy make me new headpipes with a different routing so I don't have that issue.

Performance Report...
Covered 175 miles today on the fix. Take off from stop is remarkably improved. And freeway speed going up hill is VASTLY improved. This is evidenced by lots less downshifting when ascending hills. I travel this route every week and know when the transmission would downshift to deal with the hills. Hardly any downshifting now on the same route and speed. I really think that pinch was choking off a lot of power.
Some have solved the problem by installing an early Grand Chero 4.0l downpipe, cut and adapted to the XJ exhaust at the large section. The Grand Chero pipe never had the dent, apparently. I guess that means you should be able to buy one new and do the same adaptation. If so, sounds like a good solution to me. Either way, getting rid of the pinch is worth the performance gain.

With all due respect, I have been around cars all my life. Never seen this technique of choking the exhaust for achieving emissions compliance anywhere else.
Maybe I'm wrong. But if it has merit, I sure would like to see where else this method is used!
