Engine swap progress
So I have the old engine out and the new engine on a stand. The jeep is a 2000 limited and the new engine came from a 97.
The new engine doesn’t have a camshaft position sensor. Can I just put the old one into the new engine? Any issues with TDC or timing or anything?
The plastic cover for the fuel injector wires was so brittle it just cracked apart. I figure that wrapping the wires with exhaust wrap could be a nice alternative. But that got me thinking, why not wrap the header too. Anyone have any experience with this? Will it reduce the heat around the intake?
The new engine came from a manual and I have an automatic. Do I just swap the torque converter over? Anything fancy with that? Do I need to worry about transmission fluid levels? Do I need to fill the torque converter with fluid?
I know I need to make a bracket for the coil pack, should be pretty easy.
Is there anything else important other then plugging in all the electrical, fuel, coolant, bolts…

I don't know the answer to all those questions, but there can be issues with cylinder/intake manifold/exhaust manifold compatibility.

I did answer one of my questions:
I am not super impressed with my skills but I think it’s good enough since it’s kinda hidden. Top tip, this stuff is waaaay worse to work with then pink wall insulation.

The only critical issue as I see it is the cam shaft position sensor. Is it just something you pop in and it’s good?

The connector that went to your distributor, may not match the cam sensor...if it does then its just adjust per the correct instructions and plug in
