Also, I'm regearing and the guy will throw in an 8.8 for $1200 out the door for everything. I'll pay a couple extra hundred for disc brakes and limited slip. I don't have a problem with my 8.25, but I'm sure I'll wanna go bigger than 33s down the road anyway.
With your 8.25 u should be good up to 35 all day and can hammer on it.. i have a buddy running 35's on his dana 35 and pounds the crap out of it... Regear and save the extra money and buy armor or 1 ton steering upgrade?

I understand the swap for the disc brakes but all in all the 8.8 and the 8.25 are about the same strength wise so if you think the 8.25 isnt beefy enough then the 8.8 wont he either. BTW, my buddy runs a locked 8.25 with 36's and hasnt ever broken it beating the snot out of it!

If you really want discs, theres a writeup on here about how to use ZJ rear discs on the 8.25, way cheaper and easier than swapping the axle out.

I want the discs but not confident doing it myself. Especially, with no time, garage or rear brake experience. Not even a JY around here that I know of to pull used discs. I think with parts and labor alone at a shop would justify some extra cheddar and going with the 8.8.

Jay I swapped in ZJ steering so I'm content with that upgrade for now. Lots of skids already too

Or get brakes from a Kj.... Direct bolt on to the backing plates I do believe..
