Hey guys, I've already done the modification to remove my doors but the only thing im not liking is the fact that the door is relying on the weak hinges to stop them from swinging open instead of the door checks. Has anybody ever made some quick disconnects for the door checks? Maybe using some hitch pins or a single pin and loop such as what is used on sway bar disconnects? Thanks

Here is my solution. Fits tight, no popping, and quick to remove. It's a little hard the first few times but gets easier as you use it. These are 1/4" pins I got from Lowes. I might cut them a little shorter which would also get rid of ball/spring making them easier to remove.

Sounds good. Appreciate the input guys. Did a lot of research on the years, and as far as the best mix of modern and old 98 seemed the be the best to most people. Most of the electrical bugs were fixed compared to 97 and you don't have the risk of getting a bad cast head with 99+. As much as I like the horseshoe manifold I'd rather have the old head and swap the manifold rather than the other way. 2000 and 01 got a little too modern and have quirks that make them weaker and harder to work on. Anyways this all sounds like what I had in mind. Just gonna go through everything. Gonna coat the floor for rust protection top and bottom this summer.

While I'm here, has anyone fixed this issue on these where the weld actually breaks? Still has the pin, but on the actual door this thing is broke so my door wont stay open. Anyone fix it or is it a weld job only?

which welds? Do u mean the door hinge? Or the door check? Door hinge is welded on, the door check should be bolted on.
