Get a comanchee rear spring under instant 4 in lower, shorten some used adjustable control arms cut the coils your done then figure out steering links ...
Well the engine is torquey as hell.
I mean if you lowered it with attention to handling characteristics rather than looks, give it some larger wheels with street performance tires, could be cool. On 2wd like he said that is.
Would be the same purpose as F-150 Lightning or any of the Chrysler SRT series. A sports car with room basically.

I thought about this once when mine was 2wd but one winter storm in the NC mountains changed my plans to lifted 4x4. I dont see how this would be much different then any static drop on a truck like s10's. Its the same basic principle as lifting. lowering trucks is pretty easy and the only hurdle I see is the solid front axle with a steering box

i would take out the springs and let it drop little by little and see what hits first (in the front). then go up until nothing interferes and that would be the easiest place to start.
i would love to do a rat cherokee. super low, rusty patina or flat black, white walls, chop the top like 3 inches, bomber seats, pin stripes, super long custom shifter with a shrunken head shift ****, custom dash, and lots of other weird junk from swap meets...

Lowered 2WD street cherokee's are cool. Beat up on those JDM/honda guys. Show'em what old technology Jeep's can do on the street. I am currently building a '99 2WD 2door into a lowered street terror. 18" Cobra wheels, composite rear springs, RadShifting AW4, cut front 3" lift springs, shorter track bar, poly bushed tubular control arms, addco front sway bar.
