Anyways, spring under in the rear, wouldn't that give about 4-4.5" drop in the rear? (Going by MJ's spring over. If that's too much you could always get an MJ shackle (or Aftermarket) to raise it back up.

For the front, maybe a set of f-150 coils cut down to match the rear? IIRC those are pretty damn stiff. So maybe they could handle losing some material. Better option would be some small coilovers (as mentioned). Just more fab.

Also, I don't know exactly what would interfere but there's also other suspension components to consider. Control arms, track bar, sway bar, steering...
yea, SUA would be around 4" drop. that why i said AAL or bastard pack with the SUA swap. cutting f150 would be insane. waaay too stiff. any more than 2" drop i think you'd start having front end issues.

Yea I was thinking lowering would be like lifting in reverse, going over 2" things need to be adressed. Lowering more than 2", same thing.

On the f-150 coils, I was just thinking if it had less off a spring it wouldn't be as stiff? I'm not an engineer though lol.

I'm sure there is some kind of coil that can give some drop without cutting it though.

when you cut any coil, it gets stiffer. TJ coils give 1" drop.

I'm thinking starting with a TJ spring and cutting it down from there. Since cutting the coils increases the stiffness, if I started with a 136lb XJ spring and cut 1.5 coils out of it it would be a lot stiffer than a 129lb TJ spring that I wouldn't have to cut down as much because it already has a 1" drop. Between the lower spring rate and less trimming, it should ride nicer.

Thinking SUA with a bastard pack in the rear and trimmed TJ springs would be perfect in the front.

You will need a shorter track bar and shorter bump stops.

Protip: always start small when cutting coils. It's hard to cut more back on!!

Well, picked up the Jeep today. Needs a slave cylinder but seems to run and drive ok for right now.

I am trying to sell this roller 89 XJ that I have in the shop now. If someone bites on the package deal for these two I will sell them both, but if the 89 sells first I am going to lower and hotrod this thing.

It is FILTHY though.

Gotta be a smart *** because of title........

*SMACK* lol I dont care for the lowered look but as stated before tj springs and sua would lower it. Also a low pro shackle relocation bracket with the shackle bolted as far to the rear as possible should give about a half inch to inch drop I think

In for project status and pics. This will be cool if you end up doing it.

I've thought this would be cool.

don't do it like a trailer-trash slammed mini pickup, but more of an XRT8 style hotrod XJ.

That might acturally look good granted Iv never understood the want to lower a suv or truck but to each his own. If its done right tho thats a different story

Please Don't say things that you don't know about.
I don't want you out there saying that low pro shackle boxes will lower the ride.
