I have a heater Core from my old 2000 Ram. Its brand new, never used.

heater cores do help with cooling but that's not their actual purpose, I would just look for an actual tranny cooler at the jy it will work alot better

The tubing between the fins are "flat". It would cause lower flow rate, compared to the tranny coolers out there. They are round tubes with fins on it, with bigger diameter.
I'm afraid that with the heater core as a cooler, it may cause the tranny to work harder to push the fluids through tighter diameter tubing.

I haven't tried this, but I didn't say you coldnt do it....
however this ^^^^^ is reason why not to expect it to performe as you would want it to and what I was gonna say as well,,
for the trouble id still just go to the jy for a tranny cooler,, and use the brand new heater core to replace the one on your xj simply cause you have it

A cooling system is set up for 14 lbs usually. What king of pressure does a trans cooler use? Twice that or better? I know the trans itself is around 100 lbs depending on trans. Spend a few bucks and get the right cooler instead of cobbling something together.

This is one of those..... you know....bad ideas....

It will not work. Not built for the pressure. Restrict flow.

Thanks fellers. Those are the explanations I was looking for. I will be using a regular cooler. Sorry if my second post sounded a little dick-ish...lmao.
