Default differential cable lock in kit

has anyone usone of thesekits that replaces the old crappy vaccume acuator im gettin ready to order mine since the the vaccume one quit on me butone question i have is the web site says it works up to a 6 inch lit and ill be runnin around 7 does anyone know were to get a longer one or if i can make this one work

I have one on my red xj that I might get rid of sometime. The front ring&pinion are toast and I have a non-cad d-30 sitting around with lower gears anyway. I've never used it though.

Instead of buying the cable kit just put a newer one piece axle shaft in there

i was acualy thinkin about that one day wounderin if it would work does it make it feel like its in four wheel drive with the transfer case dis ingaged

You can always flip the shift fork, it locks the shafts together. With the t-case in 2wd it will ride just like it does now. Basically makes it like newer model axles and you don't have to find a new shaft and replace seals.

well i might try that when i get a new shift fork the old one kinda broke when i was trying to get the e rings off the old acuator

are the newer solid axle shafts the same spline as the stub shaft on mine

Yes but you have to remove the carrier and put a seal and remove the one from where the CAD is.

what if you have a lunchbox locker in the front? will replacing the 2 piece axle with a one piece make the locker engage?

No. You'll hear it ratchet in tight corners, but since there is no torque applied in 2wd up front, it won't lock up.
