ive seen 1 4bt cummins in an xj thats about it, it can be done but since the xj is a unibody tourqe is a problem to worry about twisting the unibody but if you dont go too crazy on power it usually isnt a problem. Im not too knowledged on the subject but thats my $.02

VW diesel would be a viable option. I converted my Vanagon to diesel a few years ago and that pig weighed twice what the xj does.

Just a little pricy for me though.
There has got to be an easier answer that the 4bt or the VW route.
Has anyone used a stationary powerplant diesel?
Like the ones found in generators or even marine engines?
What engines are used in all those UPS trucks running around?

UPS trucks I believe are Cummings so 4bt. How can a swap be easier than a 4bt swap? Several companies make adapters for transmissions. how would you attach a generator to a trans?

If your dropping in a 4btpositive frame stiffinging should not be a problem.

Its not a 4cyl in a UPS truck, so its not a 4bt. Maybe a 6, but sure isn't a 4.
