29 spline shafts are not plug and play. you would need a 29 spline carrier as well and that means reset the gears.

the rubi 44 comes factory with 4.10's and a selectable locker
but given that the 8.8 also comes factory with 4.10's, a limited slip, and disc brakes, this is what I would suggest also. you'll have to do fabrication whether you pick D44 or 8.8. might as well get the stronger and cheaper of the two

Never been to Africa but it seems to me like explorers are more abundant overseas then Jeeps.
At the moment I have got the Dana 35 rear axle, I must maybe look at the explorer.

do you know if the explorer axle is diff locked?

Not locked, but lockable. Sone came with a limited slip, though.

Eddie Bauer explorers have LSD and 4.10 gears. 8.8 are cheap where I live can pull one for $95 that's complete

TJ 44 tubes are the same as the D30 tubes.

Thanks for the input guys, it's greatly appreciated.
Im gonna go with the Ford axle, it looks like it will be my best bet I also read up on the write-up Atmos did. I'll get these alot cheaper here as well.

I've done some research here as well and you get some of the newer explores and ranges which has got lockers on too which would be a added bonus.
