Default Dana 30 HP

So i have some issues with the dana 30 front end under my jeep. A buddy of mine has a HP dana 30 he just pulled from his 2000 cherokee. Is this a direct swap?

Correct the 89 should be HP but it could have a vac disconnect tho. and the 00 should be LP but either was they are direct bolt in. The only thing i can think that may be differant is the length of the driveshaft but it may work fine.

if he has the 242 tcase then it is a non vac axle. i agree with you on the driveshaft length, the the front ds has enough slip to compensate.

got the 231 and it is indeed the POS vacuum connect. I may have been backwards on my HP and LP. Just saw an oppurtunity to fix my worn out front end for FREE and its looking like that is the route im going to go.

just so you know, the LP is weaker than the HP. try finding a dana 30 front from a xj with a 242.

Make sure the gear ratios are the same otherwise you'll split the t-case in half, snap gears or both.

What about one from under a grand? that would give me WJ knuckles and dual piston calipers as well.

Yeah I already checked gears. Also what will I have to do to go from a vacuum axle to a non vacuum axle?
