well one problem solved... another one just beging... trying to remove the once welded spider gears from the carrier is gonna be a task n a half. the PO welded not only the spider gears to each other but to the carrier too so there is hella slag on the carrier thus making it near impossible to loosen one spider gear enough to remove it so the rest will fall out. it looks like im gonna havta torch em out.

I do have one last question, bc of the amount of slag on the carrier we couldn't pull the spiders gears like I stated. All welds did break though so they can freely spin n occasionally catch when bound basically acting as a limited slip. I will only be running the axle like this till I have the time n money to torch n pull the spiders. So my question is what are the odds/chances more metal could break free from either the broken welds themselves or the chewed up spiders? I just do not want my 4.56 gear ring to be damaged in anyway.

Honestly it's a very good chance some of the broken pieces could wind up either in the bearings or between the teeth of the ring and pinion. This is no bueno for sure, if the chunk is large enough or at least hard enough it could crack the ring gear or pinion gear or even worse cause the whole housing to get cracked. Imho it's not a good idea at all to keep driving it like it is, best case scenario the spiders shatter and nothing else is damaged, worst case scenario is the spiders shatter and wedge themselves between the teeth of the ring and pinion at hwy speeds and cracks not only the case but as said the whole housing.

That's kinda what I meant, should've been a little more clear. I'd be afraid that any of the slag or remaining weld might break loose and either fall in just the right spot or jam the spiders or something of that nature till the spiders shattered or especially damage your ring and pinion.
