D44a Aluminum Open Jeep Quadratec Differential ???
so I have been wanting to upgrade my rear axle and I happen to have a aussie locker for the ubove mentioned axle I am just looking for some feed back about the D44A axle, good ? bad ? also what vehicles it can be found on as my search has not found much on any of my questions

The "a" stands for the aluminum pumpkin it has. Steel tubes & aluminum a center don't mix, IMHO. I'm not sure how they safely weld the two together. The 44a is also a C clip axle. Not that it really matters. The 8.25 is a C clip axle too. But it is proven to be strong.

Thanks guys, thats all i needed to hear !!! Guess this ausse locker i have is going on ebay and ima put that $$$ to a locker for my existing 8.25

The dana 44a is a mutt its a dana 44hd center but the center is alum.The very few i have seen used off road they had to make a skid plate on the bottom to protect it.The bad part that skid plate kills ground clearance.
