Insert the axle sleeves being careful not to intrude on the inner axle sleeves.

For my lift I needed 10* of pinion angle. After setting the pinion I rotated the outer tubes to 6* and welded. On the short side the outer tube got an inner bevel and the sleeve welded to the outer tube via this recess then the out outer tube and knuckle welded to the sleeve with back cuts. An 8th inch was ground out of the tube to catch the inner sleeve in the weld.

Coming along nicely. Did you sandblast that in the yard w/ a portable unit or do you have access to a blast cabinet that large? I have already shown in this thread I am fairly ignorant to axle modifications typically done in a 4WD application. That said, it appears you didn't do any plug welds through the stock axle tubes to the inner sleeves. I have seen that done when adding inner sleeves, why didn't you drill numerous holes and plug weld to the inner sleeve?

$35 at the sand blast man. The axle tubes are plug welded tjen sanded flat. The tube cuts have been ground shorter and spaced so that the weld catches the inner sleeve and the outer tubes, they are also welded at the outer ends.

Gotcha. Cool. Thank you for humoring my new questions. One of my future Jeeps may need this work done and I appreciate the knowledge.

that side was concerning, there was about 1/2" of tube left on that side to weld to. Just to make sure it was a tight fit I heated the sleeve to expand it just a bit before I inserted and welded it in. On that side I undercut the outer tube and welded the sleeve to it with no weighton the end to persuade it, then added the outer.
