just use some tubing with a good thickness and some joints, weld it up and you got yourself some new control arms.

If I make my own short arms, what length should they be with a 5.5" lift? Like 1" longer thank stock? And should they have the bernd in them to? Or should I just make them even longer?

I have seen someone cannibalize the stock arms for the bushing end, keeps it stock and cheap

you will need joints/ bushings that fit the brackets and run the right bolt size. many companies sell builder parts for people looking to make thier own suspension.
