hack n tap yeah forgot to mention that..... im looking at the one with the refurbished front drive line its my only choice because i have the np242 unless i want to swap transfercases

and also does anybody have info on using the front shaft for the rear i remember seeing a thread on one of the forums that got purrty heated over it how it may or may not be safe? seeing as it is my only mode of transportation at the moment

So far I've heard nothing but acceptance for using an xj/zj front drive shaft.

I'm planning on using one when I do my sye. I'm ordering all my kit next week.

Decided against the hack and tap but if you got the 242... its what you gotta do. Or swap to a 231...?

I have the same kit with the refurb front driveshaft and I love it. Mine is my DD also. Install was fairly easy.
Only tips I can give you are cut the shaft while you have the jeep in reverse with a 4 inch angle grinder and take your time tapping the hole.
Also be prepared to have to trim down the supplied yoke around a 1/2 inch give or take.

also you have to take into consideration that at 3.5 inches of lift you may not have enough clearence/slip in the drive shaft. i'm at 5 inches and have one inch of slip in the driveshaft on level ground. I installed it exactly as stated in the instustions and have about 1 inch and a 1/8 left of spline on the cut shaft.

I would call IRO and ask some questions regarding your lift and how much slip should be left so you don't compress and kill your t case.

also I've read that different years of xjs came with slightly longer or shorter front drive shafts. In your case after you talk to them you might want to ask them if they have any in stock that are a bit shorter.

if you have any other concerns just ask. Dude.

Just ordered my hack and tap with the refurb driveshaft from IRO as well. I'll let you know how it works when I get my 6.5" LA on but I've heard only good things. A buddy of mine runs the combo on his 6.5" LA with no problems.

Let me know what you think about it when you get of in. I'm interested in how it gets installed
Watched a few videos and I think I'm going to pull the TC out first. Or buy one from the junkyard to put it on and just swap em out.
