Please report back asap when you get yours installed. Mine is sitting in the garage waiting for me but I am starting to wonder how loud it will be in the cab. My XJ isn't a DD but when I do take it will be for camping/wheeling trips with a lot of highway time to get there. I'm sure it sounds cool but when your driving 4-5 hours one way on the highway, the coolness factor starts wearing thin. If it wasn't for the extra room needed in the engine bay for accessories, I wouldn't have even considered it.

Well, I figured I would report back with my opinion after installing the THOR intake. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't. It is a really cool set up and absolutely frees up a lot of room in the engine compartment but it is pretty loud, at least for me, in the cab. If you are cruising down the highway or around town at a steady pace then you can't even notice it. When you get into the throttle at all is when it gets loud. I know, I know, of course it gets loud when you are accelerating but when you are keeping your foot in the throttle to drive a few miles up a hill to get home, it can get a little annoying. Of course this is my project/fun car and not my daily driver so I don't have to live with it day to day. Also, I really haven't put a lot of miles on it so the jury is still out, this is really only my early impression of the kit. I just wanted to chime in and give you my first impression. I will report back after more miles are put on the Jeep. Of course there is always the easy fix, turn up the radio!!

I installed my THOR intake, and I have to say I am pretty unhappy with how it fits. The black metal shroud doesn't fit up against the firewall as it's supposed to, and the clamps they sent with it didn't work and were too small. Overall, I wouldn't do it again, but now I have a hole in my firewall so it is what it is

I didn't have any issues with the clamps and as far as the shroud fitment goes, when I tightened down the screws it pulled it nice and tight against the firewall. My issue is the noise so it is going to be coming off. If it was an offroad only XJ then I wouldn't mind the noise but I will be driving this to get to where I want to go. Now on to figuring out how I will be plugging the hole.
But the possibility of the noise that some people talked about turned me off. Especially since my XJ is just a DD.
But a stupid idea did pop in my head.
Could you sound deaden in there?
And if so think it would have any effect?

I considered one of these to free up some space in the engine compartment for whatever.

I dont think "sound deadening" will work, as the noise is mostly the in-rush of air...and the beautiful sound of an IC engine
That why engineers design an OEM system to be a compromise between noise, fuel economy and free flow

I barely notice the noise from mine, and it's certainly not very loud or persistent. Maybe a little hiss at cold idle until it warms up, and when accelerating above 2500 RPM.
Just finished ~1200 miles with the THOR. Encountered lots of rain, water crossings, mixed driving, lots of wheeling... Zero issues thus far. Great product overall IMO and totally worth it if you're thinking about it.
Downside is I had to cut a lot to fit the filter on mine. The filter and pipe ended pointing up towards the cowl cover a bit to fit properly as well.. Once the cutting was done it was super easy.
IMO sounds awesome, it is loud AF when u go WOT tho and there is a little hiss/whistle just like any CAI at a few specific RPM/Throttle % combos. Personally I like the throaty sound of a straight six.
Definitely noticed lower temps(trans/coolant) overall throughout my trip, slight MPG increase, less downshifting on steep highway hills. If it cost only 199, it would sell a lot more for sure.

I also run the THOR intake. I've only had it on for a couple months, but so far so good...
Except the logo printed on the elbow upside down. They said to check back in a couple months for a new batch and they'd send one out. Good customer service with quick replies.
