Default coil rail eliminator issues

pre-planning a coil rail eliminator for my 98 into an 01 stroker 4.0 cherokee and have found that the airtex 5c1432 plug does not fit the connector on my 01 coil rail...there is an alignment rail on the left side of the airtex that has no corresponding cutout in my 01 plug...I thought this was a direct interchange...did I miss something or do I need to just cut the alignment rail out...no one seems to have mentioned that thanks

I have poked around about this a little. I probably have read the same threads you have.
Under the impression it is a plug and play but never really delved into it.
At the time I was just looking for some basic info about it.
So I am guessing you missed typed.
Cause you said "airtex 5c1432 plug does not fit the connector on my 01 coil rail".
Well I am guessing you meant the connector on the harness?
Both look a little offset, not dead center, on both the coil and the connector on the harness.
But can't tell from pictures if they are both the same.
So now for the stupid question.
Is the red tab pulled out?

In my '00 if I decide to get rid of the coil rail I am probably going to go this route.

as you can see the airtex has a rail that has no cutout for in the connector...its easy to remove...just wanted to make sure im not doing something wrong before I start grinding...thought it was plug and play...thanks

I probably should have looked closer at the pictures that I did.
Before you go trimming that are you sure that the part was not packaged wrong.
I work in an auto parts store and it would not be the first time.
Also I would do a deep dive because even though I just researched it for a second or two way back
when am still, like you, under the impression it was plug and play.

If something is not right and you trim that you might not be able to return it.
