Default Coil pack vs cap and rotor and plug wires

Have an 01 cherokee with the ignition rail/ coil pack/ wastespark setup however you wanna call it it came stock in the 00-01 models. I recently swapped my motor for a rebuilt crate motor from 505 performance and was wondering how hard it would be to switch to a cap and rotor set up. The cylinder head in the new motor does not have the holes for the bolts for the ignition coil pack so rather than trying to weld nuts on there I was thinking about just changing out that whole set up. Anyone of y'all ever done this?

i dont think it could be done or it would be very hard first off instead of a cam pos. sensor on the '00-'01 you would need to make the pick-up coil work and adapt it so the ecm sees it instead of the cam pos. sensor and im sure the signals are different for the one coil with distributor and the coil pack...

why would you want to switch its a good working system

Was just wondering how hard it would be since I did not feel like welding new nuts in the cylinder head

Welding on new nuts would be a much easier solution then rewiring it for a distibutor

Use a Dodge Viper coil instead of the rail coil, they have a tad more output and are less prone to failure. The pigtail should plug in same as the rail coil as well.

edit; I failed to mention that the Viper coil is compatible with the OBD2 ECU used with the rail coil. You will not get a MIL and all P-codes will be correct in terms of system or component malfunction.

For the ease and simplicity of changing plugs I would do this.
