Default Clunking Noise when coming to a complete stop.

Hey everyone. I have a 1999 jeep cherokee, its lifted 3in with 31in tires and off road setup. I just put on new front rotors and pads. They brake totally fine but just before I get to a complete stop its like it is catching. Its makes a loud rubbing/clank noice and then stops. This is the only time this has done this. Any ideas? Thanks!!!

How many miles on the new brakes , what kind of brake pad is it , do you have stock rotors or drilled and slotted ? this all makes a differences .

I have a rear brake that does that, and I have to pull the drum and clean out the dust for it to work correctly again. I don't think that would happen with disk brakes but you never know.

Check the caliper bolts and make sure the calipers slide freely. Check the knuckle where the calipers ride for wear. They can get caught up on them if the knuckle is not smooth.

OP, here is what fb97xj is referring to and it's probably where I would start also since it's common and relatively easy to check, and fix, if required:

Look for grooves as shown in the images. Your's may be better or worse.

Check the Caliper bracket for wear.

I had that problem also. I just used a good flat file to dress mine down and get rid of the shallow dips in the bracket.
