Have a 1999 xj 5 speed manual. Looking to install a NRG hub and steering wheel. Jeep is off-road only and doesn’t see pavement. Airbag light has been on for years and have no controls on steering wheel, CC etc. can the Clockspring be removed completely? Hub will not fit with clock spring in place

 

Yes, you can remove the clockspring completely.
Since it's off-road only and you have no steering wheel controls, the clockspring serves no purpose. Just unplug it and take it out. Your airbag light will stay on, but that doesn't matter for your use.
Your new hub will install directly onto the steering column splines where the clockspring was.
