I have a write up saved on the 231.

Not sure if the 242 would work or not. You shoild be able to look under and see what kind of clearance is there.

Then just use the gasket to figure out where the holes will be.

i'm sure it can, but be advised the 242 is larger than the 231, and you'll need to massage the belly a bit more. also, you'll need an SYE if you dont already have one.

This guy did it a bit differently, but this is a decent write up.

Thanks, I've seen that one, I've been kinda looking for another write up to go by also. Not to drag this off topic, but if I was to get a clocking ring, I would still have to drill, correct?

I just made a jig to clock my 231. Slid it over the transmission output shaft, Worked mint.

You will have to do some floor modification (i just hammered it up) and your front driveshaft angle will be worse (i had locking hubs, so it didnt bother me on the street)

This is what I plan to do, or order the jig from IRO. Anyone used it?

Why would he need a SYE? Technically you are pivoting the transfer case around the output shaft so that won't change. It will only change the front drive shaft
