Is anyone running chromoly shafts in their d30? How much stronger are they than stock shafts? I want to be able to run my 33s maybe eventually 35s locked without having to worry about snapping an axle

You wont snap shafts but you'll chew up Ring and pinion. Learn to replace shafts because its a hell of a lot easier than R&Ps... 33s is fine on stock D30, 35s you'll want to carry shafts for the occasional breakage. usually just ujoints though.

dont get chromo. you want to break axle shafts and ujoints, not RP and lockers
go pick up some spicer ujoints from napa with a you break it, they replace it warranty
then some more replacement 95-99 axle shafts. you'll be much better off than spending way too much on chromo

I'm running stock shafts on 33s and I break atleast one shaft and or u joint every time I go wheeling.... its all in how hard you wheel... but like ottawa said ALWAYS CARRY SPARE SHAFTS... not griping at you just don't want you to be stranded due to broke axle shaft... and if you do break and you don't have have a spare shaft it is better to leave the part of the shaft in your hub assembly than run with out it... it helps keep the assembly intact

I would t trust it. Might bind up and pop your knuckle off the ball joints. Keep spare shafts with ujoints already installed as back up. I would do the cromo axles in your situation. Doubt you will have an issue with them. As far as breaking RP have them cyro treated and you probably won't have an issue

Thats what i was thinking, i mean, im probably only gonna run 33's, so i dont think that the difference of the shafts is gonna be enough that ill mess up the R&P, and i know it wont be enough to break my locker, right now i only have 31s, and i dont have spares yet, but i should be fine with the 31s until i get my chomoly shafts
