Childs car seat latch system - mods for XJ rear seat??
I've done some searching and haven't found anything so here it goes.
My daughter (5) is still in a car seat. The center seat belt in the back of my XJ ain't cuttin it anymore... It's always loosening up and I'm tired of trying to cinch it down etc. I'm sure most who have small kids are familiar with the car seats nowa days that have the "latch" attachment system...
Do you all have any ideas on how to mod the back seat/floor board to accept the latch system? I was also considering a reinforcement bar behind the seat back (cause these rear seat backs are pretty weak.. but I don't want to limit my cargo carrying ability with the seat folded down..
Any ideas guys???

Does the seat, have the 3 upper belts to latch to the clamps in the cargo area. And you can probably buy a new seat belt and swap out. Shouldn't be hard

Yeah maybe make some sorta bracket to bolt down where the center seat belts bolt in. The seat has the two quick release clips for the latch system and the center strap in the upper back rest.

I would have to say find a vehicle in a junk yard that does have them and see if they unbolt. If they do then it would just be a matter of drilling under the bottom seat and the mounting with the proper hardware. I have a 98 Cherokee and I am consider the same thing. My center seat belt sucks and I just don't like it nor do I feel like its safe to my standards.

I looked at trying this before. Look for the late 90s-00s Ford Taurus rear seat baby latches......i think. They bolt up to the taurus and should be strong enough to bolt in to the rear seat area somewhere.

I put my 3yr old daughters car seat by the pass side rear door and along with using the seat belt I ran the safety strap from the car seat over the back seat and latched it to the cargo tie down on the floor in back. Cinched it down pretty tight and now it hardly even wiggles.
By the way mines an 89 and her car seat faces forward, don't know if that helps or not....lol
