Default cherokee turning radius

Hi can I remove the steering bump stop bolts from my cherokee sport or screw the bolts in further to give me a better turning radius. Tyre clearence is good. It is only used off road. Can any one help. Thank you.

The only way to make a tighter radius is to remove them. But you really don't want to do that because you will end of binding up your axle joints.

Is it the axle joint that the stop bolts are protecting

3mm is not going to make that much of a difference. What size tires are you running and why do you need a better turning radius? If you take them out, you have the potential to have the wheel turn too much, possibly have the tires hit the lower control arms, and you could easily bust the ears at the axle joints. I run 32's with a front Spartan locker and I actually added washers behind mine because I could feel them binding with the stock steer stop position. It's alot worse in 4 wheel drive. My personal opinion, is to either leave them or add washers if you plan on keeping your axle joints and ears in tact.

When I replaced the knuckles in my XJ I didn't get the bolts. The turning radius is no different. I would recommend leaving them in place.

OK thanks. I use 235 85 16 kingpin highlander tyres. I use the jeep for off road trials. Going through ski gates ( between canes set out over a rough course, have to make tight turns. hit a cane and get penalty points. If I could get just abit more turn that would be good.

Sounds like you need a Dana 30 in the rear then and add an extra steering wheel. hahaha!!!! That's like monster truck style with rear steering. That's what you need there.
