4bt would most definitely be the way to go, cheap to get, reliable and easy to turn up, i put a 6bt in my 78 bronco, it was the best thing id ever done. i think a cherokee with a 4bt or even a 3.3l cummins would be the cats pajamas

I'm sure you've already got a lot of info but I thought I would be my advice in there... DO NOT SUPERCHARGE YOUR JEEP! It would be cheaper buying a BRAND NEW engine with a factory super charger set up. With a high millage 4L you will just ware out the engine in no time. You got to beef up the bottom end like your cam's. Exhuast, headers.

Some of the older detroit diesels had a blower and turbo on them. The only diesel swap i know of worth the trouble is http://www.hpamotorsport.com/tdijeep.htm he was working on a xj kit was going to be for a stick only.a 4bt is a nice idea but it weights 700lbs the vw diesel is a lot lighter.

Why did you say not to supercharge the 4.0! What my understanding Bank's making a supercharger kit for tj and a few other company's are also, most of the kit I've see are from$2,500 to $6,000 ! Most of the kits are under 10 lbs boost and get any where from 60 to 120 hp! There was a complete sc kit in the for sale section, we'll put together beside cutting the **** out of ones hood! I would like to hear your full reasoning and the other thought is that with a stroker there is a lot of extras need to gain the full potently ie larger Tb, Injectors, header, cat back exhaust, correct me if I'm wrong

It can be done. I know of a guy who has done 3 4bt swaps in 97+ Cherokees. Unfortunately I lost his info, only met him when I bought my new wheels, but he showed up in his sick '98 on 33's with the Cummins in it. He popped the hood for me and I just stood in awe for awhile at how great a job he did. I wish I had pictures, and he doesn't really do the whole "internet" thing.
