How's this holding up so far? I've thought about doing it to mine but with a dark green.

Default Its like the day I sprayed it

Couldnt ask for more. Its left outside, no fading. Never washed. If God wants it clean He'll throw a thunderstorm on it. No arizona pin striping been off road tons. That stuffs on there. Didnt have to prime, or top coat. Stop thinking about it. Do it.

That's freakin' awesome! Great job! I love the color too. I built an AR half black and half FDE and always thought FDE would be cool on a Jeep. I will have to read up on spraying Cerakote. Thanks for the idea.

Just curious, did you used to live in Arizona or do people in other states also call it Arizona pin striping like we do here in AZ?

Lol... Everywhere else in the southwest we call it "Desert" pin striping.

But you are right... This is a fantastic and practical "out of the box" idea! Mine is next...

Hi, I would like to cerakote my jeep too. What are the steps needed to correctly apply cerakote to a vehicle? Also could cerakote be applied to my plastic fenders as well? If so what's the process to cerakote the fenders. Thank you.

1. Sand every thing metal with 120 grit. Plastic gets 220. Test plastic with small amount of acetone to make sure it doesnt melt. If its factory paint you dont have to sand all the way to bare metal. If there are rust spots or a rattle can then sand to the metal. Plastic and bondo gets 220 grit so there is no scarring. Bondo areas will need a layer of epoxy primer to hide it its very porus and will stick out like a sore thumb
2. Wash jeep.
3. Do one section at a time take off roof rails, trim, and mask off edges and glass. I would start with the roof so you can adjust your pattern and get a feel for how fast it dries and no one will see it. If you want to set up a plastic booth with filters you can, its a jeep so I sprayed mine outside and let it bump. Its been three years and that stuff is fine. If its hot and sunny it will dry as your spraying so more paint flow is needed.
4. Spray acetone first to help set your pattern and to clean area. Test plastic parts with small amount of acetone make sure it doesnt melt. While spraying acetone, Watch your over spray. Move other cars further away or lay down drop cloths as needed.
5. Wipe acetone with clean cloth
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 as needed make sure part is clean.
7. You should have a decent idea of patern now Apply C-cure cerakote of your chosen color. Dont stop in the middle of a stroke it will cause build up.
8. Once color is flat in appearance its safe to touch, or cover it, if it starts to get dark and dew point is high. 24 hrs to dry before driving to be safe. I went off roading on the same day and it was ok, the thicker the coat the longer to dry
