Default ccv question

I was doing some thinking today about my Jeep, and have to get some opinions. My 89 is using a constant crankcase vent (surprising how many people don't know it exists) but technically, would i be able to remove the hose from the valve cover to the intake manifold and run a simple breather filter from it?

You mean remove the hose from the valve cover that spits oil all over your air filter and put a simple little air filter on the valve cover?

Hell yea you can.

Hell yea you can.

So doing this simple swap will really fix the fresh air intake on the air cleaner from "lubricating" my air filter?

Just remember to plug the hole in the air box where the hose went.

OR you can get the pcv valve and grommet for a cj, and where the line screw into the manifold use a BRASS air chuck and hook up your own PCV system.

If you went to the air, and are all ready having an oiling issue in you breather box.. you will now have oil eveywhere

I tried to do this CJ mod and the grommets they had were both too small for the valve cover, is there a certain year you need to use? I went off that one write up that's floating around for this mod.

I think I went in there and just picked one out for a cj 258... fit right in the valve cover, then I got a PCV that fit the grommet. It was just kinda a random fix cause I went to Advance Auto and just went to the help section and picked the parts

that doesn't lubricate the filter its for the intake system as its mounted behind the filter its most likely to help catch the finer dust particles that the air filter lets through so removing it may actually be bad for the engine, or i could be wrong and jeep engineers put it on there just to make you scratch your head who knows?

CCV is part of the emission crap of the 80's. it takes the spent cases and redirects them to the intake and air system while removing excess pressure from the base pan.

If you look at the way they are directed.. they both go into the intake.
