I was lucky enough to not have a center console so I made a mount (and cupholders) to go between the seats. However the plan is to put it above the rearview mirror in a console that goes from one side to the other along the top of the windshield.

In a crash if your knee ends up where that CB is, it's gonna leave a mark.

My plan, originally, was to place it where the ashtray/front cubby of the console is. I swapped in a 97+ console a couple years ago, and have the DBO gauge/switchpod in the ashtray area. So I mounted mine driver side of the console near the front with handy-tak/velcro/zipties. I am powering it with a switched cig lighter adapter plug, and for now the mic sits over that. When I get around to hard wiring my ac inverter, I will hardwire the cb as well.
