Default Carpet out, need waterproof floor/bed linner suggestions

I pulled my carpet again and repainted the floor after removing some new surface rust, the carpet must have started it because ive already done this once before.

so I was looking for current opinions on a roll on Waterproof floor liner. It has got to be a damn good weather barrier.

I have lots of herculiner on the exterior. It's tough as nails, but Sucks at keeping out water and definitely needs a top coat. Ide like something thicker, not as abrassive and maybe sound deadening/insulating.
I don't want to get rid of my carpet, but I can't keep doing this crap.

any thoughts are much appreciated folks.

What kind of paint did you use to paint the floor? Because even if you put something waterproof over it, you have to make sure no dampness is still present.

You could used a good rust preventative that you could topcoat with with herculiner or some other bedliner or soundproofing product.

I've used Rust Bullet before to rustproof. It's thinner and goes on pretty well, and is tough. I actually removed the bed of my pickup and lined the underside to stop and prevent future rust. A year later and it still looks great. Check out Eastwood, they make some rubberized undercoating that is supposed to be pretty good as well.

I had rustoleum brushed on rust stop enamel, stuff is crap. Right now ive got a primer if red oxide then rattle can black over top. Something easy to scuff and it fills in well.

Carpet don't cause rust, it is a symptom of an bigger issue.

Where is the moisture coming from? Door seals? Windshield leaking? Heater core leaking? Water over the, or going around the cowling? etc, etc, etc.

Nothing will protect your floors from rust if the source is not fixed. Carpet simply holds in the moisture it is provided.

At the moment I'm uncertain I'm hoping I can find out while I have the carpets out if I notice anything leaking.

Thats your first issue, is to find the source, if you have a hole in the floor, you can fix that, if you swamping your ride do you even want carpet? I install Speedliner which is a cold applied Truck bed liner and I've shot many customers trucks that just want to hose them out. If you set on carpet I;d find the source and patch it if you can, Prime any bare metal with a good automotive primer or something similar two component would be best, Then find a good 2 component Bedliner, I dont know much about Herculiner but if its 2 component it should hold up. You have to know as the carpet ages it hold not only moisture but sand also. In essence you floor starts getting sanded and wet sanded so anything thats not catalyzed ( Not 2 component) is going to wear out fast under carpet

I used Monstaliner on my '98 Cherokee. I covered the entire floor and it's worked out fantastic. I added some RattleTrap sound deadener too. Huge difference.

Like others have said there is a reason water is getting in. I would check the drip rails as well as everything else said above. Do you have any kind of undercoating on the bottom of the floor? I have my xj coved inside and out up and down with rubber bush/roll on undercoating. It helps a bit with sound. Before using something like that you have to make sure there are no holes or rust, I redid my floor sheet metle put black rust paint on then I put the rubber under coating.
