Default Cargo Area Bed Liner

I am considering the option of coating the cargo area with bed liner. Wondering if any patrons here have done the same with any success?

My concern is a) heat from the exhaust system (especially in places where MOPAR insert heat shielding under the carpet, and b) wondering if the bed liner material will adhere to the filer material that MOPAR used.

Mine has been bed lined for who knows how long. Carpet was on it when I got it.
I've got it all apart for a cage and the bed liner looks fine. I plan on putting the carpet back over it. Just because I like the carpet.
There is no heat shielding under the carpet.

Hope this helps.

The carpet and padding acts as a heat blanket. Taking it out of the cargo area isn't a huge deal but removing it from the whole Jeep can get........uncomfortable. It's not a Wrangler with all the openings to vent built up heat, the XJ retains a good bit of heat in the interior even with the windows down. Weathertech and a few others make cargo area liners. I'd go with those over removing the carpet.

What about vibrations and deadening the sound from outside, is that a consideration?
