Default Bushwacker flat fender flares install tips

I've been searching the Internet for the past hour or so on installing these flares I think i have a fairly good idea of what to expect, but I just wanted to ask if there are any tips, tricks or things i need to look out for when i install them.

Also what would be the best way to cut the sheet metal? I have both a dremel and a grinder. Which is the best to use?

Thanks!

A jigsaw is the easiest way to cut the sheet metal.

Come to think of it I have a jigsaw. Thats a good idea. I'll go pick up a metal cutting blade for it. The only blade I have for it is
for wood.

Actually it's not.

A plasma cutter will make quick work of any fender trimming.

A 4.5" grinder with a thin cut-off disc is a great tool for the job as well.

Actually I have used both a grinder and a jigsaw. The jigsaw worked much better and provided me with cleaner cuts especially around the corners (get the finest toothed blade you can find, I used a 36tpi and put tape on the foot so it doesn't screw up the paint). A 4.5in grinder can't grind a round edges very well. A plasma cutter will burn the **** out of the paint and the rubber fender lining.

This is a jigsaw:

I wish I had a plasma cutter, or even access to one.

I'll pick up a cut off disc for my grinder as well. Between the jigsaw and grinder I should be able to get the job done? I was just curious to what tool would be best for the job.

I've made damn near perfect rounded cuts with a grinder.

Simply start by using the grinder to score the line and then make 3-4 passes.

bada boom, bada bing.

Awesome! Thanks! that's what info I was looking for. I'll go over to lowes after work and pick up that blade. And good call on putting tape on the foot. I wouldn't have thought of that... That's a fantastic idea.

This is on the not flat style but the cut outs are about the same they used a cut-off wheel and flap wheel on a grinder. That's how i do all of mine. Good luck.
