Default Budget Lift/pack

I have seen several people talk about budget lifts/packs. Can someone explain to me what a budget lift/pack is? I am new to all of this and would appreciate any advice thrown my way. I am looking to do a 4"-4.5" lift. It is my daily driver and will be doing moderate wheeling. Thanks!!

Instead of buying new lift leaf packs you modify your existing leaf packs. Basically keep your main spring and get s10/Dakota leaf packs. Add the lower "new" springs to your original upper.

I did three Dakota under my original main and original lower, netted 3.5 lift. Make sure the "new" leafs are arched nice and not flat.

You have to cut the replacement ones to fit under the main. Also new u bolts. Easy. Mine rides great. Need new shackles to fix the angle however.

Then just buy lift springs or spacers for the front.

RE 3.5" springs. Off classifieds. 80$.

I was looking at doing that too, but once you start adding everything up, for me it was easier to go with a kit. If you don't plan on getting adj travel bar, lca, etc it probably is cheaper, but to make everything work safely and efficiently I don't think its that much cheaper.

I got a almost new adjustable track bar on here for 80$. Your gonna "need" all sorts of other things. Shocks, bpes, u bolts, longer brake lines, shackles, lcas, adj track bar. If this was my dd I would have bought a kit. However I'm lifted 3.5" an rides/handles great. I've spent under 300$ so far. Need some shackles or a solution for the angle though.
