Brakes rubbing on rotor from camber?
Hi everyone,
I bought myself a 91 Xj a while back and I noticed that it has some decently bad camber and after my most recent rock crawling experience it looks like the camber got worse. And now my drivers side front brakes are constantly rubbing on the rotor.
I’ve tried new pads and new calipers but they keep rubbing, I noticed that the u joint on my axle shaft assembly is very stiff and doesn’t rotate freely. Could it be possible that my axle shaft has gotten more bent than it was before and adjusted the angle of my rotors and camber to the point of rubbing? Or is it possibly the axle housing as a whole?

Did you check balljoints for play.
do you beat the **** out of the rig? My mind doesnt lean towards bent parts unless you drive this rig like you stole it and hate it.

months ago, I treat it rather nice and take tough terrain as careful as possible but I did hit a pretty massive pothole when leaving the area that felt like it would’ve damaged something but the noise didn’t start till almost a week or so after that.
Thank you all very much for the assistance I tried putting a new wheel bearing on the other day for it but the ones from oreilleys didn’t fit for some reason is it possible because I have a mile marker free spinning conversion kit do any of you have an idea of if I just need the correct spline number of a different bearing from factory or is it a special order part?

Update on the wheel bearing I got it taken off and I went to replace the assembly as a whole and I’ve looked everywhere but I can’t find any assembly that matches even close and I believe the rotor and assembly are one together from the looks of it or it’s rusted on too tight to even budge.

Those use serviceable spindle bearings inner and outer, you are supposed to clean and repack them annually. You should be able to get the old bearings out and get a part number off of them, they are pretty common bearings and most parts stores should have them in stock.
