Default BEST REAR

I have a 2000 xj looking to change rear and gears. What rear is a direct replacement that will work with my jeep with no welding. What jeep and year will work and is better then what I have. Thanks

if your current axle is an 8.25 then that one is your best option. keep it. the front axle was the weaker one in the 2000-2001 models
the only other bolt on option is a late 80's jeep xj dana 44

Yep, D44. They are found in older XJ's with the tow packages maybe 87-91 or something. The 8.25 29 spline is second and came with late production 96's all through 2001. I run that with the stock lsd.

If.you're changing the gears in thebrear you need to change the gears in the front. Unless you'll never be in 4wd.

You need to change the gears in the rear and front at the same time regardless of if you're in 2wd or 4wd. If they are not the same gear ratio you'll have some big problems.

A really good upgrade, but requires some welding, is a ford 8.8.
