Hey all. As many may have experienced i have a black XJ and the roof has paint starting to crack more and more from sun over the years.
Im thinking a good fix would be to bed line the roof Maybe just around the roof guards (plastic strips) or all of it.
i would appreciate opinions ,pros/cons, or other remedies others have tried. Pictures would be great if you have them.
FYI ive bed lined the entire bottom quarter of the jeep already so im familiar with the process.
Thank you for all and any help

I did it and it's hot hot hot. Keep in mind that I didn't use bedliner just rustoleum paint, while it does look good I did notice that its much hotter then usual. But it could also be that it this year is noticeable hotter then previous year. As everyone I know has been having overheating problems.

I would like to make a very important point. Herculiner IS NOT RUST PROOF NOR INHIBITING. You must! make sure rust is gone before applying. As bedliner wears it will allow moisture to contact the metal. Painting may help as a barrier. NEATO!

Well I finally got around to it. My 99 is black and the roof was cracking and starting to show some little rust areas near the cargo seams. I wire wheeled the rough spots and scotch padded the rest with an aggressive pad. I used herculiner and rolled it on. I did about 3 coats on the roof as it was the first time and one heavy pass around the body and bumpers. The entire bottom 1/4 of my jeep was already lined so I added another coat as I do every few years. It helps with road wear and tear and keeps the liner resilient.
