I am in the process of building my bastard packs and have a question about the leaf spring keeper bolt. I watched the bleep in jeep video and he grinds the head of this bolt down so it will fit into the pedestal hole on the top of the axle. Would it be easier to drill the hole in the mounting pedestal instead of using a grinder on the head of the bolt? Thanks.

if it was easier, everyone would do it.
i would just buy the proper centering bolt, or do as bleepin jeep does and grind the head a bit.
i've done both ways many times for guys and either way work
i've used a grade 10 machine head bolt a few times. with a bit of grinding, it worked great.

I would like to ask another question here, as part of the project I am intending on replacing the shocks too. I was looking at the Bilsteins that were direct replacements prior to doing the bastard pack. Are they long enough as is, should I think about a bar pin eliminator, or suggest a comparable replacement for stock length? What did you do for your installs? Thanks
