My steering is off, any idea of how big of a job it is or prices? Driver side and passenger side
Thank you

If you know what you are doing it can be done in an hour or so. ball joint press can be rented for like $100. ball joints will be anywhere form $120 to a few hundred dollars. I got dana brand for like $110 out the door with my discount.

without a deposit? autozone "rents" it out for $100 and as soon as you bring it back they refund your money
I replaced my ball joints long ago. got the nicer ones from reibes and watched that youtube video 7 times. hammered, air chiseled, pressed with impact gun, and finally torched out the ball joints. unbelievable pain in the ***. the rentable press does not want to line up right
then I've had friends pop theres out with a hammer in a few swings
I couldn't do it. I had the axle completely dissassembled from the jeep. I took the housing in to 4wp and they did my ball joints for $40

Ball joints are a pretty serious job, if you have never doneit before, I would allow for pretty much all weekend. You can prob cut some ofthat time with proper research, but still very time consuming for your firsttime. I would investigate your steering “being off” before you dive into balljoints, there are a lot of other components that can contribute to steeringissues. Tie rod ends, alignment, draglink. You can rent a ball joint press and Iwouldn’t necessarily buy the most expensive joints, if it’s a DD pavementsprincess, I would get cheaper joins due to less abuse. If you DD / wheel it,get more expensive, if it’s a non DD and you wheel it and don’t mind workingit, get cheap, you will ruin them either way (that’s what I did).
Maybe to clarify, can you describe what makes your think thesteering is off?

Like i said if you research and are confident in what you are doing you can do it a few hours. I did mine from tires off to tires on in an hour but It wasnt my first rodeo just my first time on the dana 30. watch that video and you will know every thing you need to know. just pay attention to what you are doing and dont hurt your inner axle seals installing and pulling shafts.
as far as the press not lining up. use a piece of scrap steel to shim it. it is explained in the video.

First time I did balljoints I got all four in a day. If you have basic mechanical knowledge and have done other comparable repairs I don't think it's really that hard. It's all pretty straight forward.

i had previously installed a lift and changed alternators then i did balljoints
they were surprisingly easy...
used a $40 balljoint press, no rental places here.
